Chimney Service FAQs
What types of chimneys do you service?
We service all chimney types found in Philadelphia and surrounding counties, including wood-burning fireplaces, gas fireplaces, oil furnace flues, and boiler vents — whether lined with clay tile, stainless steel, or cast-in-place liner systems.
How long does a chimney cleaning and inspection take?
Most cleaning and inspection visits take between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, depending on the condition of the chimney. We complete the work in a single visit whenever possible and leave your home clean.
What is creosote and why is it dangerous?
Creosote is a tar-like byproduct of burning wood that builds up inside your flue. At high concentrations it becomes highly flammable and is a leading cause of chimney fires. Regular cleaning removes creosote before it reaches dangerous levels.
Will the technician make a mess inside my home?
No. Our technicians use drop cloths and professional-grade vacuums to contain all soot and debris. We take care to leave your living area as clean as we found it.
What does a written maintenance report include?
Your report documents the condition of all inspected components — flue, damper, cap, crown, and mortar joints — along with any findings, photos where applicable, and the work performed. It's useful for your insurance provider, gas company, and home records.
Can you help if my gas company has already shut off my service?
Yes. We handle gas company compliance work regularly. We'll clean and inspect your chimney to meet their safety requirements and provide the documentation you need to get your service restored.
Do I need a chimney cap, and can you install one?
A chimney cap is strongly recommended for most chimneys. It keeps out rain, animals, and debris that can cause blockages and damage. We install caps as part of our Enhanced Services package — pricing is provided after inspection.
What's the difference between a chimney cleaning and a safety inspection?
A cleaning removes soot and creosote buildup from the flue. A safety inspection evaluates the structural and functional condition of the entire chimney system using a camera and visual check. Our Preventive Maintenance plan includes both.
Do you provide a referral program?
Yes. Refer a friend or neighbor and you both save $50 on your next service. Just mention your referral when scheduling — contact us for details.
How do I get a quick estimate before booking?
You can upload photos of your chimney through our website for a preliminary photo assessment and priority scheduling. We'll review them and get back to you promptly, usually the same day.
